Looking back at my volleyball journey I think it's pretty impressive how God took a poor little girl from a tiny village and turned her into a pro volleyball player playing volleyball all over the world. Since then, it's been an up and down journey, but still worth it. I will be real with you and share the steps I took to become a pro volleyball player from Trinidad and Tobago.

Club volleyball
I started playing club volleyball for Starling Volleyball Club. It was great playing against other clubs, practising my skills and playing with players of different skill levels. Some of my teammates were on the national volleyball team. Through these teammates, I was invited to the Senior Women's Team Tryouts.
The National Volleyball Team
On the first day of Tryouts, the National coach at the time Franciso Cruz sat me down after practice and sold me my first dream. Pro volleyball! Listen, I never knew about pro volleyball until Francisco Cruz told me about it. He said all I had to do was work hard and show up to practice every day in Spanglish. The hard work paid off because that year I made the team that won the Caribbean Championship in 2006.

The Scholarship.
Winning the Caribbean Championships opened doors for Trinidad and Tobago volleyball and for me! I was able to securea scholarship to attend the University of Trinidad and Tobago. The scholarship allowed me to pursue my education, represent my country at international competitions and pursue my dreams of playing volleyball professionally. I am grateful for the opportunity to attend the University of Trinidad and Tobago because I would never have been able to afford it otherwise

The Contract.
As the years went by putting in the work to go pro volleyball. I was getting discouraged. I didn't know how to do that because at the time no Trinidadian had ever played professional volleyball. Then God! After playing some international tournaments, I was contacted by an agent who was scouting the tournament. He presented me with an offer to play in Indonesia. I spoke with my coach and signed a professional contract. I was finally on my way to achieving my dream.

Ultimately, with God's help and guidance, it was possible for me to achieve my goal of becoming a professional volleyball player.
